What is Vedic astrology?
Astrology is gaining grounds and becoming more and more popular in this modern age of Science and Technology. In almost every country of the world Astrology
is being practised in one form or other. Most of the people now days know their birth signs due to media, newspapers, magazines and periodicals. This is Sun Sign
astrology practised widely from the Western countries and now practised in almost every country of the world. This is Solar astrology, taking Zodiac Signs from
the SUN. It is known as Tropical or Western Astrology.
But the origin or roots of Astrology is in the Vedas, the sacred books of the Hindus, which is considered as the oldest scriptures in the world. In the
Eastern countries and especially in India astrology known as Hindu Astrology or Vedic Astrology is followed since thousands years. Great Sages or Rishies
studied the science of the stars in the sky, and observed the influences of the
stars and wrote immemorial books on astronomy and astrology.
In olden days Astronomy and Astrology were not separated subjects but they were one and the same subject, but in recent years it is divided into two subjects,
Astronomy and Astrology. Astronomy is the Science of the Stars in the sky and Astrology is the practical influence to the man. One is practical and the other
is theory. People of India known as Hindus followed their own system of astrology which is known as Hindu or Vedic astrology, as it is Lunar astrology. In this
system Moon sign is important. Hindus (people of India) follow constellations, known as Nakshatras and therefore this system is known as Constellational Astrology
also.
In comparison with Western Astrology, Hindu astrology has many different charts, Dasha System and different Yogas. The natal chart gives the broad spectrum of
a person's life in greater details and it guides him properly and before hand, with a view to make his life better and more successful. The Sun controls our
hearts and the moon our minds. Astrology means JYOTISH, the giver of light in darkness. Our lives are full of darkness and Hindu Astrology guides a person
and makes him mentally ready to face the coming mishaps or bad periods Hindu Astrology indicates trends of life in greater details and gives a vivid picture of one's
life. Hindu or Vedic Astrology has power of predictions in greater details or in depth. It gives timing the events well in advance with the help of Dasha System,
which is unique and important. It foretells the favourable or unfavourable periods of man's life and warns in advance of coming mishaps. Astrology or Jyotish is
a scientific, metaphysical, and spiritual study of both astrology and astronomy. Vedic astrologers takes into consideration of seven planets, starting from, the
Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. No doubt there are only five planets only starting from Mars onwards. The Sun and Moon are luminaries, but
for an easy reference both are considered as planets. In the same way Rahu and Ketu are included in Hindu Astrology, which are not the planets but the shadows,
and therefore known as shadowy planets. Thus there are nine planets in Hindu Astrology.
Newly invented planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are not included in Vedic Astrology and in absence these newly planets also Vedic Astrology gives better predictions
with amazing accuracy in comparison to Western astrology. This doesn't mean that our old sages had no knowledge of these newly invented planets. I have been a
self-taught student of Astrology for more than 45 years. It is interesting that I started with Western Astrology, mastered it, thoroughly studied and digested
noted Western Astrological books written by Alan Leo, Evangalline Adams. Parchment, Max Heindel, C E O Carter, etc. Afterwards I learnt Hindu Astrology in greater details by myself with the help of the books and mastered Hindu Astrology or Vedic
Astrology. I found Vedic Astrology more accurate, useful and helpful to the clients in comparison to Western Astrology as I have studied both the systems. It has
great predictive potential and gives accuracy in predicting the events well in advance.
Vedic astrology not only gives accuracy in predicting the timing of the events, coming mishaps, disturbances, difficulties or worries, but also it gives guidance
and warns the individual before hand, which may be of utmost importance in planning one's future advancements, projects, or even one's undertakings. Remedial measures
such as gem; mantra, tantra, etc are also helpful to a person.
